The Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality release date has arrived, with the game launching today on PC, Xbox and PlayStation - the Nintendo Switch version is said to be coming later.

One of the big exciting details about The Edge of Reality is that David Tennant is reprising his role in the game, with his incarnation of the Doctor jostling for screen time alongside Jodie Whittaker's incumbent TARDIS-wrangler.
Developed by Maze Theory and Just Add Water, Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality expands on 2019's Doctor Who: The Edge of Time VR game. This time, though, you don't need a headset.

Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality release date and time
The Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality release date took place on 14th October 2021 at 2pm BST UK time - this is the day and time at which the game launched on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
However, the Nintendo Switch version has not launched yet - the Switch release date for The Edge of Reality has not been confirmed yet, but we'll let you know when that changes.

Which consoles and platforms can play Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality?
The developers from Maze Theory have confirmed that Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality will be playable on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC, with Steam handling the PC release. Most players should have a way to play it, then. The Switch version seems to be launching later than the main version, though.
Is Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality in VR?
Just to be clear - The Edge of Reality is not a VR game, so you won't need any extra headgear to play this one. Levels and ideas from Maze Theory's 2019 VR game have been reimagined here with console/PC players in mind, but you won't need a headset to enjoy them this time.
If you really want a VR experience, you could try out the Edge of Time VR game if you wanted, but just be aware that some of the content from that game has been reworked for The Edge of Reality.

You can buy Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality for £19.99 via Steam, the Xbox Store or the PlayStation Store. That's not too high a price to pay, then! It's well worth a throw for fans of the show, we'd say.
Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality plot
The official synopsis reads like so: "Wield the sonic screwdriver as you join the Thirteenth Doctor (voiced by Jodie Whittaker) on a quest to save the universe, and meet the Tenth Doctor along the way (voiced by David Tennant in a guest appearance). Experience an unforgettable adventure through space and time, face terrifying monsters and solve a mind-bending mystery!"
A further description from the developers at Maze Theory adds: "Enter the Chaosverse, where reality itself is threatened by a series of time-breaking glitches, and partner with two formidable Doctors as you seek to uncover a deeper mystery [...] Confront a terrifying new threat and face classic Doctor Who monsters, including Daleks, Weeping Angels and Cybermen."
